Planning a wedding comes with plenty of excitement and usually a few questions too! Here are some of the things couples often ask when they're considering working with me. If you don't see your question here, please contact me at elizabeth@balancinglife.com.au.
Once you've chosen your date and venue, it's a good idea to book your celebrant as soon as possible. Popular dates can fill quickly, especially during peak wedding season. Booking early also gives us plenty of time to get to know each other and create a ceremony that truly reflects your story.
Great question! While I do officiate your ceremony on the day, there's much more to it than that.
As your celebrant, I'll guide you through the legal requirements, prepare and lodge your paperwork, help you create a ceremony that's meaningful and personal, provide resources and support along the way, and make sure everything runs smoothly on the day.
Think of me as part storyteller, part organiser, part calm presence, and part cheerleader.
Absolutely!
Your ceremony should feel like you - not a template or a script that could belong to anyone else. Whether you'd like something romantic, light-hearted, traditional, modern or a blend of everything, we'll work together to create a ceremony that reflects your personalities, values and relationship.
The main legal document is the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM), which must be completed at least one month before your wedding date.
You'll also need to provide identification documents and, in some circumstances, additional paperwork. Don't worry - I will guide you through the process and make sure everything is completed correctly and on time.
Not at all.
Some couples love writing their own vows, while others find the idea a little daunting. There is no right or wrong approach. If you'd like to write your own vows, I'll provide guidance and examples. If you'd prefer something more traditional, that's perfectly fine too.
The most important thing is that your vows feel authentic and comfortable for you.
The good news is that weddings are wonderfully resilient.
Most venues have backup plans and experienced wedding professionals are used to adapting when unexpected things happen. My role is to remain calm, flexible and focused on what matters most - and that is making sure you can enjoy your day and celebrate your marriage.
Years from now, the little hiccups are often the stories everyone remembers with a smile.
Yes!
I'm based in Western Sydney and happily travel throughout the Blue Mountains, Greater Sydney and surrounding regions. If you're planning a wedding further afield, I'd love to hear about it and discuss the possibilities.
You wouldn't be the first, and you certainly won't be the last!
Most couples feel at least a little nervous before their ceremony. The good news is that you're not performing for an audience; you're celebrating your relationship with the people who care about you most.
I'll guide you through the process, explain what to expect, and help you feel comfortable and prepared so you can focus on enjoying the moment.
There's a very real possibility!
After hearing your story, helping you plan your ceremony and standing alongside you on such an important day, I occasionally find myself reaching for a tissue.
Don't worry though - I've become quite skilled at delivering a ceremony while managing happy tears. It's one of the many privileges of being part of such meaningful moments.
Simply reach out and say hello.
We'll organise an obligation-free chat where we can get to know each other, discuss your plans, answer your questions and see whether we're the right fit. Choosing your celebrant is an important decision, and I want you to feel completely comfortable every step of the way.
I can't wait to hear your story.
